Service Opportunities

Fifth Sunday Outreach

As people of faith, we should carry grace to the people around us. Every month with a fifth Sunday gives us that opportunity; we leave our normal worship place and the songs and sermons behind. We believe that worship can occur outside the walls of our building. We take this time to go out into our community to perform acts of service for the neighbors around us.

Our work teams:

  • feed the homeless downtown
  • clean-up a yard for an elderly or sick neighbor
  • aid with painting and minor home repairs for the poor, unemployed, or just down on their luck
  • sing hymns and visit folks at Elmcroft
  • help to clean-out that garage that someone hasn’t quite gotten around to
  • clean toys for children at a local rescue mission
  • volunteer with Durham Habitat for Humanity

Evergreen welcomes you to join us to help complete these projects. We are a community that is open to people who are firm believers, those who are seeking Christ, and those who don’t really know who or what to believe. Faith is a journey, not a destination.

Here’s what one of our regulars has to say about our Fifth Sundays:

Tech Team

Evergreen’s technology team supports everything from the Evergreen website to the Internet computers at the Greenhouse to sound on Sunday mornings. The website consists of WordPress blogs / static pages, phpBB for forums, and custom web development for dynamic content written in Ruby on Rails and Mysql. If you are interested in helping out with any of our technology needs please contact Neal Farrand.

Specific needs include:

  • Ruby/Rails developer
  • phpBB / WordPress admins
  • Photographer
  • Videographer
  • Photo editor
  • Video editor
  • General computer support
  • Sound technician
  • Anything else that might help Evergreen with our technology needs

ECC Cares

Most ECC-er’s depend on their Journey Groups and Covenant Groups to help them through life’s difficult and challenging situations. However, not everyone is in one of these groups. So the ECC Cares group exists in order to make sure people don’t slip through the cracks. We try to help people out who otherwise might not get a lot of church community support. For more information, or to tell us about a need, please email us at ECCcares@evergreench.org.
